uni-cancerWhat readers are saying about The University of Cancer….

“Great read, I admire you and strength of your family. I was not expecting my emotional response to the book, I am glad you shared your story, thank you. I am letting people know about your book and how it will benefit individuals and not be swallowed up by large organizations. What you are doing is so special words cannot describe, in these troubled times the world needs more people like you”. – Jonathan

“A first-hand account of the surprise, shock of learning one has cancer and the reality, effect it has on spirit, family, friends and faith. You live it through the eyes of the author from the before, a strapping athlete since college who exhibits health, business success, guiding faith and a beautiful family. The medical education phase is invaluable: the who, what, where and why related to physicians, therapists, and medical treatments. Then the after, the lessons learned of what and who is important in your life…the strength and support of faith, marriage, family, and friends. It’s a great read that is consuming and affecting, still thinking about it weeks later. A triumph of hope.” Natola

“Thanks for sharing your book, it is deeply moving. Very well written, it demonstrates the power of positive thinking, prayer & meditation.” – Emmy

“I couldn’t put this book down! At times I cried and at times I burst into laughter. This book relays a first-hand experience in dealing with cancer. James talks about the shock, fear, hope, anger, acceptance, family and faith with a vulnerability and rawness that helps the reader journey with him. The analogy of “cancer university” is a good one and stays with you. And I like how the profits go to help other cancer “students”. – Patricia

“We were truly touched by your beautiful and powerful narration of the real-life experience you and your son had while courageously battling this dreadful disease. You both came out victorious in your fight. We commend you for achieving that outcome. We sincerely hope and pray that both you and your son remain cancer free for all time to come and that you continue to share the blessings you guys received from the Good Lord to millions of readers like us.” – Jassy and Avijit

“Bravo on your book!! Thank you for sharing and the zeal to tell your story. It is a good read, and the emphasis was properly placed. I fully appreciate how the women in one’s life are the backbone and support of the whole family structure. The fight to get through and past the ugly disease is a valiant and difficult struggle…. Good for you … and the inner strength you brought to bear. You have also encouraged me to support the cause of cancer prevention and eradication.” – Harvey

“I came across your book on Denise’s FB post. I wanted to reach out and say it was a moving story and thank you for sharing it with such honesty. As hard as trials like this are in life, they are truely a blessings. My son had a brain tumor when he was 12 and it was the hardest thing we ever had to go through. However, if I had the opportunity to go back in time I wouldn’t change it. I wouldn’t want to give up the lessons and growth that came with it. It really helps you get your priorities straight!” – Nancy

“I received your book yesterday and finished it today. I found it extremely well written and certainly uplifting for anyone who has a friend or family member afflicted. The narrative of your treatment resonated with me, as my first wife, the mother of my children, underwent the same experience for seven years. Her ending was not as fortunate as yours. She died in 1991. There have been many advances in treatment over the past 29 years and I sometime think that had it occurred later she may have survived. Thank you for sharing the story of your struggle with me.” Terrence

The University of Cancer came to fruition as a result of my son’s Cancer and then with my own. I would journal during my 5- hour treatments of chemotherapy and long drives to and from my home in San Clemente and USC Keck Medical Center in Los Angeles.

At first, I wondered why my son and soon why me. I discovered a tremendous new knowledge of how our medical system and insurance system worked and came to the realization that my care and my coverage was going to require a lot of effort on my part. The insurance system is not an easy labyrinth to navigate one’s way through. Especially when you’re sick with a potentially life-threatening disease. The whole process required new learning and understanding along with a determined persistence and a whole lot of patients.

I also learned a lot about the medical profession and those who work in it. There are a few very talented and qualified physicians as well as some not so talented or qualified. You better figure out which one’s are which, your life depends on it.

I wrote this book not only to keep my mind sharp while I was dealing with a very miserable situation. I wanted to share with other regular people like me that find themselves in a battle with Cancer. To all the friends and family members of those with Cancer, because I believe them to be the unsung heroes of this experience.

I wrote this book to share my story from an ordinary guy’s perspective, to share my story with others and to contribute somehow to others who may benefit from my experience and/or any proceeds that may come from the book.

I pray that through The University of Cancer, I may add some value to your journey.

Blessings,

James Perry
