DON'T SWEAT THE SMALL STUFF by James PerryIn 1997 Richard Carlson published a book titled “Don’t sweat the small stuff… and It’s all small stuff”. It became one of the fastest selling books of all time and spent years on the best seller list, ultimately selling millions of copies in many languages.

Whether you have read the book or not, Carlson’s articulation of this idea is worth remembering. Don’t spend your time (the most valuable and least renewable of all your resources) on things that don’t matter. Spend as little time as possible on things that don’t matter, but you are absolutely obligated to do.

If you give things more time and energy than they deserve, they’re no longer lesser things. You have made them important by the life you’ve spent on them. And, sadly, you make important things, your family, your health, your true commitments – less so as a result of what you have stolen from them.

It is essential for you to remember that the attention you give to any action should be in proportion to its value. Stephen Covey said in the 7 habits that “things which matter most, must never be at the mercy of things which matter least.
